About this Speaker
Zalina is currently General Manager for Capital Markets Malaysia (CMM), an affiliate of the Securities Commission Malaysia mandated with promoting Malaysia’s capital market both domestically and internationally. Zalina joined CMM in June 2014 as Head of Strategy and Business Development.
In the space of sustainable finance, Zalina initiated and led the Secretariat for the Malaysian Green Finance Taskforce in 2019 which resulted in policy and market operation recommendations. In 2020, Zalina developed a three-year strategy on how to enhance the depth and breadth of sustainable finance in Malaysia. The various initiatives put in place resulted in Kuala Lumpur being recognized and invited to be a member of FC4S as the sustainable financial centre. Zalina is currently leading a working group on Transition Sukuk, and is a member of various industry and government advocacy platforms on sustainable finance, biodiversity, green construction and halal fintech.
Zalina has over 20 years of experience, predominantly in corporate advisory, and has worked in five countries in different regions of Asia, the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent.
Prior to CMM, Zalina was Head of Strategy & Consulting in INVESTKL when she returned to Malaysia in 2011. At INVESTKL Zalina focused on developing a start up’s competitive and corporate strategies to ensure continued growth and added value by formulating and implementing strategies for institutional and city brand development, products and supporting collateral in the first quarter of operations. Zalina’s significant achievements included personally concluding 15 regional base establishments in KL.
Zalina is a Fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) and holds a MBA in Finance from CASS Business School, UK.
